A man was airlifted to hospital with burns after his motorhome caught fire on South Forks Road south of Nanaimo on the morning of December 9. Firefighters from Nanaimo and Extension responded after a passerby reported the blaze, which involved multiple propane tanks. The road was closed to establish a landing zone for the air ambulance, and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
