The driver, a 44-year-old man, noticed smoke from a tire, stopped, and unsuccessfully attempted to extinguish the blaze with a handheld fire extinguisher before detaching the trailer. A suspected seized brake may have caused the fire, leading to traffic restrictions and a brief congestion for about an hour.

Despite Decline: How Popular Was Camping in Austria in 2025

Camping overnight stays in Austria decreased by 4.7% in summer 2025 compared to the record 2024 season, totaling 4,318,735 nights. The decline, attributed to unusually wet and cool July weather, was most pronounced in Lower and Upper Austria, while Burgenland and Vienna saw significant increases. Data from camping.info shows domestic tourism fell by 5.1%, and the most visited campground was Ferienparadies Natterer See in Tyrol.
