Glamping trend displaces long-term campers: Switzerland clears spaces
A shift towards luxury glamping accommodations is forcing long-term seasonal campers off Swiss campgrounds. In Rapperswil-Jona, a lakeside site is being taken over by the city, while in Winterthur and Estavayer-le-Lac, renovations into 4-star glamping sites will drastically reduce permanent plots. The Swiss camping association cites the higher economic value of tourist turnover as the key driver behind this trend.
